The Portable Power Source for G3 Series Receivers
| The Portable Power Source for G3 Series Receivers (PPS-G3) is an
optional add-on for external G3 receiver models to provide
mains-independent power for field operation. It is designed to mate
directly underneath the receiver unit. Power to the DC input jack of the
receiver is provided via a short length of cable.
The PPS-G3 contains four high capacity rechargeable LiPo (Lithium
Polymer) cells. Their voltage is regulated using high-efficiency
switch-mode converters to a stable output voltage necessary for the
receivers. The PPS-G3 monitors each cell separately, ensuring full
charge of each cell, thus reaching maximum possible capacity of the
whole battery pack in the shortest possible time.
Depending on the type of the G3 series receiver and its settings, the
PPS-G3 will typically provide power for 3 to 6 hours of continuous use.
The same AC/DC adapter originally supplied with the receiver is used to
recharge the PPS-G3 unit. The receiver may still be used while the unit
is charging.
The PPS-G3 can also function as an uninterruptible power source
(UPS): Under normal circumstances, the receiver is powered from a power
adapter (via the PPS) and in case of AC power dropout, the power for
receiver is immediately supplied by the PPS-G3 batteries without any
noticeable interruption.
