Going to Mexico?

Bob Grove

On a recent vacation excursion to Cancun in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, Bob Grove took his scanner (of course). He reported that most activity was in VHF high band and UHF, with channel steps of 25 kHz on both bands. Repeaters were common. Bob wished his Spanish language skills were better to ID these transmissions. As with most tourist spots, most communications are conducted by hotels, transportation, and public safety.

The hottest voice activity seemed to be centered around:
148-149
153-161
451-458
461-469

Digital paging:
151.300
151.350
152.150
152.250

Aeronautical comms used 100 kHz channel separations:
118.6 (Tower)
127.8 (ATIS)
127.7 (ATC)
125.8
128.2

Airport terminal communications
