This optional unit will enable the AR5000+3 to selectively receive only specifically modulated CCSS signals or to verify the CTCSS frequency used. CTCSS tones use very low audio frequencies that cannot easily be heard, they are designed to fall below the audio bandwidth of the receiver so they do not cause annoyance to the recipient.
